The Devotional Preparatory course caters to those aspirants who have pitching issues. Learning and being able to render our ancient 3 note chants in pitch are ideal route to gaining knowledge and gaining command over pitching and voicing. This course is constructed from a few swara exercises for those interested and a number of well known chants.
The Devotional Intermediate course has been designed to help the devout, musically inclined aspirant to first gain command over simple congregational repertoire such as aratis, and then move on to learning simple bhajans recorded by great artists – D.V. Paluskar, Hari Om Sharan, Hariharan, Anup Jalota, Anuradha Paudwal, Vani Jairam and others.
Voice Training:
The curriculum is delivered in combination with Scientific Voice Development. Teachers are trained in the concepts and principles of Frederick Husler, adapted to the needs of Indian Music by Ananth Vaidyanathan.
The human voice is naturally a singing voice, irrespective of musical talent. Musical tone and skills are innate potentials of the human voice. The voice is developed by activating it’s potential nature through simple songs and allowing it grow easily and naturally along a path of increasing musical complexities.
The Devotional Advanced course is designed to train the student who aspires to become a stage performer of Devotional Music. Concert style bhajans are the mainstay of this genre. The course finally moves to devotional songs composed in complex styles by composers such as Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Srinivas Khale, immortalized in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar.
