Romi Roy Chowdhury

Romi is a second-generation musician from the family of Tridib Roy Chowdhury, a well-known AIR artist. She literally lives music through every breath. A performer par excellence trained by renowned maestros Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Pandit Nihar Ranjan Bandopadhyay, she has acquired the title of Sangit Visharad from Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. She has done double Masters, in Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University and in Literature from Calcutta University. She was honoured with the National Scholarship in Thumri Dadra in 2005 from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She has been a well-known face in Hindustani Classical, showcasing her talent on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Featured regularly on various music shows at Tara Music, she has mentored and tutored numerous upcoming talents over the last 20 years. Romi has been researching the intersection of classical music and folk music, including the evolution of different genres.
