- Locking tuners are primarily used in electric guitar tuning. They hold the string more securely, lowering the chance of slippage and the need for retuning.
- If your guitar pegs rotate easily, it may be time to replace them.

Understanding the Appropriate String Winding Method
Putting the strings through the electric guitar tuning and winding pegs is a minor task. But few people realise its impact on tuning stability. Here are a few tips you can keep in mind while winding your guitar strings:
- Leave some slack: If you have wound strings, aim to wrap 2 – 3 times around the pegs. For plain strings, wrap 3 – 5 times around the pegs.
- Wind downward: Wind the strings downward to hold them in place. Ensure each wind goes below the last.
- Avoid overlapping: Neatly align the string wraps to prevent them from slipping.

- Stretch gently: Once you install the new strings, pull each one of them gently away from the fretboard.
