Shamalangi is melakarta #55 of 72 - raga 1 of the Disi chakra. Its scale takes chatussruti rishabha (R₂), sadharana gandhara (G₂), prati madhyama (M₂), shuddha dhaivata (D₁), and shuddha nishada (N₁), with Sa and Pa fixed as always. As a sampoorna parent scale it uses all seven swaras in strict order, both ways.
