Frequently Asked Questions
Can I learn piano from teachers in India while living in Singapore?
Yes. Artium offers live 1:1 online classes, so you can learn from experienced teachers in India while living in Singapore. For many Indian diaspora learners, that also means learning music in a way that stays connected to their cultural roots.
Can I start learning piano as an adult with no prior training?
Yes. Beginners are welcome. Your free trial gives the academic team a chance to understand your current ability and recommend the right starting level rather than putting every learner into the same programme.
What can I learn in piano classes as an adult?
Progressive piano learning covering fundamentals, notation, rhythm, technique, repertoire, sight reading, scales, chords and advanced musicianship. The pace can be personalised around your goals and previous experience.
Can I learn piano even if I have a busy work schedule in Singapore?
Yes. Artium's online format is designed to make regular music learning easier to fit around work and family commitments. You can discuss suitable timings during the trial and enrol in a learning schedule that works for you.
Can I learn songs I enjoy while learning piano?
Yes, where the course and teacher support that repertoire. The aim is not only to cover technique and theory, but also to make learning musical and relevant to your goals. Learn piano from scratch, return to an instrument they played earlier, learn songs they enjoy or develop stronger musicianship.
Who leads the Piano course at Artium?
Louiz Banks is the Faculty Head for Piano. The course is designed and curated under this academic leadership, while classes are delivered by Artium's trained teachers.
Can I learn piano from scratch as an adult?
Yes. You can start as a complete beginner. The programme takes you through hand position, rhythm, notation and basic pieces before moving into chords, scales and more repertoire.
Do I need a piano at home to learn piano online?
You will need access to a keyboard or piano so you can practise between classes. If you are just starting, a suitable keyboard can be enough for many beginner goals.
Can I learn piano while working full time?
Yes. Since classes are live and 1:1, you can choose an available time that works around your schedule. Your teacher can also set a practice routine that fits the time you have.
