Vachaspati is melakarta #64 of 72 - raga 4 of the Rudra chakra. Its scale takes chatussruti rishabha (R₂), antara gandhara (G₃), prati madhyama (M₂), chatussruti dhaivata (D₂), and kaisiki nishada (N₂), with Sa and Pa fixed as always. As a sampoorna parent scale it uses all seven swaras in strict order, both ways.
